The object of the game:

Bet which of two hands, the Banker or the Player, will come closest to 9. The value 10 cards have value 0 in this game. Aces always equal 1.

If the cards dealt total more than 9, they aquire the value of the second digit. For example, a total of 17 would be equal to a total of 7.

The dealer deals an initial four cards alternately, two to the Banker and two to the Player. The dealer announces the total for each, and calls for a third card if necessary. Losing bets are collected, winning bets are paid even money.

Players may also bet that the hands will result in a tie. So generally speaking, Bacarrat is a simple contest between two sides:
Punto (Player) and
Banco (Banker)
It is dealt by either a Player or by the Dealer, drawing the cards from a shoe.

The cards are given point values as follows :
Ace = 1

2-9 = card value

10 and face cards = 0

The dealer will call the cards total (e.q. “5 to the Player, 3 to the Banker“) and the nearest to 9 will be declared the winning hand.

Any player may wager with the bank (Banco) or against the Bank (Punto/Player) at any time but may not wager on both.

When all required cards have been drawn, the hand nearest to 9 will be declared the winning hand, all bets not associated with this hand will be lost to the House.
